WDIC Seminar on Proposal Writing for the Public Sector

WDIC is pleased to offer a short course specifically focused on proposal writing for firms working in the built environment. This three-session course will provide an overview of the RFP response and proposal development process specifically for public sector projects.  Topics that will be covered during the sessions will include:

Session One – Starting the Process

RFP Analysis – breaking down the requirements, identifying issues and developing a response strategy, go-no go decisions, teaming vs going alone

Developing content – developing an outline, prioritizing, creation of initial drafts, critical review, making sure that the message is clear

Resumes and project experience – techniques for making sure that the experience of your staff and your firm are presented in a way that really responds to the RFP

Where to focus your attention – Identify and highlight differentiators

Session Two - Bringing Together the Pieces

Standing out in a crowded marketplace – creative use of graphics and page design

Expectations when you’re not the prime - Developing content in support of another firm’s proposal – what is really needed and how your “boilerplate” needs to be customized; become the firm that others want to have on their team

Cover letters and executive summaries – what they are and what they aren’t

Final review – have we met all requirements

Planning logistics – pitfalls to completion

Each two-hour session will be very lively and interactive – participants are encouraged to share their own experiences in proposal development.

Session Three - Individual Meetings

Participants have the option of meeting individually with the course instructor to review their current proposal materials.  A 30-minute meeting with each participant is included as part of the course fee.  Participants will be able to choose a meeting times on Monday, March 8thbetween 1 and 6pm or Tuesday March 9th between 8am and 1pm.
